Scott Ledford has always had a passion for the environment and agriculture — including early years running a plant nursery and later building one of the first robotic material recovery facilities on the East Coast. Today, as founder of Georgia Wood Char, he focuses on manufacturing high-quality biochar at commercial scale: taking in waste wood and producing a material that helps soil, water, crops, and long-term carbon storage.

Georgia Wood Char is a manufacturer and B2B supplier first. We license patented kiln technology from Biochar Now, scale it for consistent output, and work from the data — so customers can apply a clean, reliable product with confidence. Scott Ledford and Cristy lead a team of people, most of whom have worked with them for years.

Licensed innovation, scaled for commercial demand

We are licensed and work closely with Biochar Now. The kiln technology is patented by Biochar Now. We have taken what they do and moved it to a larger scale. They have granted permission to use information published on their site.
